Indie worship band The Ember Days have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fun their next album which is planned to be a special audio/visual experience. Guitarist/Vocalist Jason Belcher told JesusFreakHideout.com, "It will be an Audio Visual Experience for our live shows, a record and a music video. You can get a little taste of it it here. We have dreamed of doing this ever since the start of the band, and we never had the money and the time never seemed quite right."

About the project, the band writes on their Kickstarter page:

For our next record we're combining amazing visuals with new and creative music to create an truly beautiful worship experience.

What are we doing?
The creative journey we are embarking on is more than just a record. We are trying to create an audio and visual experience that will be the most beautiful expression of our hearts that we can possibly muster. God is beautiful and he is creative, we are made in his image and we want to create an album along with visuals that will be used at our live events. The visuals will be from New Zealand, British Colombia, Northern Scotland, Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park, and Iceland. We are not just adding visuals as a ‘cool idea’. That is just about meaningless – The reason is that the Bible says “creation declares the glory of God”. We feel like in a world where we feel quite often alone – these visuals along with the songs will lift our eyes and hearts to see how powerful God is, how present he is in the midst of our chaos.

What is the need for this project?
The heaviness of life can come all too quickly, in the form on sickness, death, loss, relationship breakdown – just to name a few. It is so easy to find ourselves feeling powerless and alone. It sometimes seems like God is a million miles away. This experience, this record will be declaring God’s power and strength all the while delving into some tough issues that affect all of us. People are hurting everywhere and we feel like this record will be something that everyone will be able to relate to. It approaches those lonely hearts in a careful way and maybe even just for an hour, people will not feel alone. Maybe it will be through seeing the live experience or simply listening to the record – either way our desire is that people will see the magnificence and strength of God poured out in creation. And maybe, just maybe some hope will return in to a weary soul.

Why should you give to this project?
We do not have a record company. For many bands, they have the assistance of a record label. The problem is we are not a radio band. Radio drives sales. With Spotify becoming more popular by the minute – the income of bands is diminishing by the month. For our band to get the support of a label, we would need to change our sound into something that is different to what is burning in our hearts to create. Raw, honest, beautiful, gut wrenching songs about the difficulties we face as humanity, God in the midst of the chaos, and songs of adoration to Jesus. Truthfully, we can’t do what we do with a label. We need to be free to create in a honest way. That is where you come in. If you believe in what we are doing, we really do need your support.

In Summary:
Help us to create a beautiful expression unto the Lord through this audio, visual experience that will touch thousands of lives. People will find strength, hope, and comfort in Christ in and through what we are about to do. Our hearts are so passionate about this project. We have been overwhelmed more than ever with the knowledge that this world needs Jesus, not just for eternity but right here, right now, in the midst of this mess that we call life. We need your help to help the broken, hurting ones to find hope again. He is our refuge. Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Budget:
Pre-Production, Recording, Mixing, and Mastering: $30,000
Shooting and Editing Visuals / Music Video: $15,000
Kickstarter Rewards/Incentives: $5,000
Kickstarter and Amazon Fees: $5,000
Printing CDs and Vinyl: $6,000
Projector & Screen: $5000
Total: $66,000

As you can see, this dream is very expensive! The budget is actually $16k more than we are attempting to raise through kickstarter. We felt that we should not ask for more than $50,000 through kickstarter. The remaining money we will trust The Lord to provide in another way or, perhaps we will raise more than our target goal through kickstarter. Either way, this will be amazing!

The Ember Days recently released a new live EP and a free download of their song "Face In The Dark," from that EP, will be featured JesusFreakHideout.com's fourth FREE indie music compilation, Songs We've Been Trying To Tell You About (And Others We Haven't), Volume 4, releasing exclusively on their website as a free download on August 13th.
